Bukit Manuk Fruit Park: Pick and Eat Tropical Fruit for Free in Tanjungpinang
Tanjungpinang's municipal tropical fruit garden is free to enter. Whatever is in season may be picked and eaten on the spot, making it a good stop for families and school groups.
Bukit Manuk is a tropical fruit collection garden created by the Tanjungpinang city government as both a leisure spot and an outdoor classroom. It sits on Jalan Tanjung Lanjut in Kampung Bugis, Tanjungpinang Kota district, and was designed so residents and schoolchildren could get to know a wide range of tropical fruit trees up close.
The collection
When it was developed in 2012, the garden held 1,714 fruit plants from 31 types and 64 species. More recent reports mention mango, longan, guava, starfruit, avocado, durian, sapodilla and soursop. What you find ripe depends on the season. The garden is looked after by the city's agriculture, food and fisheries office; in 2023 it was being promoted by the Riau Islands provincial government as a domestic tourism destination, with facility upgrades under way at the time.

- Pick and eat fruit straight from the trees for free, as long as you do not damage the plants.
