Bintan Lagoon International Golf: Two Courses by Nicklaus and Baker-Finch

Bintan Lagoon International Golf lies at Sebong Lagoi on the north coast and is the only place on the island with two 18-hole courses on a single property. Both were built in the late 1990s alongside the original Bintan Lagoon Resort. The resort closed in 2020 during the pandemic and reopened under Accor as the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon in August 2026, with guests given access to both courses.

Sea View by Jack Nicklaus

This par-72 layout was designed by Jack Nicklaus and his team. The front nine threads through tropical forest with Nicklaus's trademark bunkering, while the back nine moves towards the coast and opens up views of the South China Sea. Its best-known hole is the par-3 12th, which runs along the beach to a green ringed by rocks and water, with sea breezes complicating club selection. Five sets of tees let players tailor the course to their ability.

Woodlands by Ian Baker-Finch

The second course, also par 72, is the work of 1991 Open champion Ian Baker-Finch. As the name suggests, it stays mostly within the forest. Many reviewers rate it as the more interesting test of the two, largely because its tee shots demand greater precision.

Bintan Lagoon is well suited to multi-day golf breaks, offering two distinct characters without changing hotels. Choose Sea View for coastal scenery and Woodlands for a more technical challenge.

Getting there

Take the ferry from Singapore's Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Bandar Bentan Telani, then the resort shuttle. A dedicated ferry pier at the resort is planned. As the resort has only just reopened, confirm course conditions and tee times before travelling.
