Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport (TNJ), Tanjung Pinang

Bintan's main airport offers daily flights to Jakarta plus small regional services. Travellers wanting more choice often fly into Batam and continue by ferry.

Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport, IATA code TNJ, sits about 7 km from central Tanjung Pinang on the road towards Kijang. Formerly known as Kijang Airport, it is now run by InJourney Airports. Its passenger terminal opened in 2013, features Malay-inspired design and has jet bridges. The runway of roughly 2,500 metres handles narrow-body aircraft.

Current routes

In 2026 the key route is Tanjung Pinang–Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta), flown daily by Batik Air and Citilink. Garuda Indonesia ended its TNJ service in early 2026. Susi Air operates small-aircraft pioneer flights to Tambelan, Letung (Anambas) and Dabo Singkep, typically on selected weekdays only. International status

A 2025 decree by the Ministry of Transportation restored TNJ's international airport status. However, no scheduled international service could be confirmed at the time of writing. The airport and provincial government are courting airlines, including AirAsia, for a Kuala Lumpur link. Check recent news before planning around it.

Getting onward

To central Tanjung Pinang and Sri Bintan Pura port: around 15–20 minutes by taxi or ride-hailing car.
To the Lagoi resort area in the north: roughly 70 km, about 1 to 1.5 hours by road. Many resorts arrange paid transfers if booked ahead.
To the east coast around Trikora: via Kijang, relatively close to the airport.

Alternative via Batam

Hang Nadim Airport (BTH) on Batam has a much wider domestic network. From there it is about 20–30 minutes by road to Telaga Punggur ferry port. Fast ferries reach Tanjung Pinang in about an hour, while speedboats and car ferries head to Tanjung Uban, which is closer to Lagoi.
